Istanbul event season, month by month
The reliable congress windows in Istanbul are mid-April through mid-June and mid-September through early November. Inside those windows, the traps are movable religious holidays, fixed national days and citywide trade fairs that absorb hotel inventory. Start from the official holiday calendar below, then read the month notes.

January to March: cheap, quiet, with one caveat
Winter is the value season. Venues have open dates, hotel group rates drop, and internal corporate events dominate the calendar. Weather is cold and wet rather than severe, which matters only for programs with outdoor elements. The caveat in 2026 is March: Ramadan runs through late winter and ends with the three-day Ramadan Feast on March 20 to 22, when domestic travel surges and many suppliers close. Avoid the feast week entirely for anything involving Turkish attendees.
April to June: the spring peak
This is prime congress season and the city prices it accordingly. April 23, May 1 and May 19 each remove a working day, and in some years the Feast of Sacrifice lands in this window as well, so check the gazetted dates early. Book Harbiye congress venues nine months or more ahead for May dates. Delegate social programs work at their best now; Bosphorus boat evenings and old-city walks through operators such as Istanbul Sightseeing slot naturally after sessions in the long daylight.
July and August: corporate lull, leisure peak
International congresses avoid high summer: European academic and corporate calendars pause, and leisure tourism takes the hotel inventory instead, keeping room rates high even while venue calendars sit open. July 15 and August 30 are full public holidays. Summer works for incentive programs and internal company events that want the city at full leisure energy, but expect humidity and plan indoor afternoons.
September to early November: the autumn peak
Autumn mirrors spring: strong demand, full supplier availability, stable mild weather. October is the busiest congress month, so the October 28 half day and October 29 Republic Day need care; Republic Day brings parades and some road closures on the European side. Trade fair season at the Yesilkoy fairgrounds also concentrates here, and a large fair can empty the airport-belt hotels in an otherwise quiet week, which is why the hotels guide recommends early blocks in this window.
Mid-November and December: second value window
After the autumn peak, rates ease and availability returns. December works well for year-end corporate events and association board meetings. The final week of December fills with New Year leisure travel, so close your program before the last weekend of the year.
Date-picking rules
Never bridge a religious feast. Skip the week containing October 29 if road access matters. Treat May and October as sell-out months for hotels.
