What this site is for

Event planners researching Istanbul face two kinds of sources: venue marketing, which is accurate but partial, and directory listings, which aggregate numbers without checking them. This site is the third kind: an editorial reference that collects the operator-published figures, links each one to its source, and flags the places where published numbers disagree, as the capacity comparison does for the ICC and Lutfi Kirdar auditoriums.

Who publishes it

The site is written and maintained by the Conference Istanbul Editorial Desk, the MICE research team of the Safaryar travel group, which operates travel and destination services in Istanbul. The team's day work in delegate accommodation and ground transport is where the practical detail on these pages comes from: coach unloading points, option-clause habits and the other things venue brochures omit.

Sourcing method

Capacity and floor-area figures are taken from venue operator websites first, named references second, and are re-verified on a dated cycle; the current verification date appears in the byline of every page. Transport timings come from operator schedules published by Metro Istanbul and the airport authorities. Holiday dates come from published calendars, as documented in the season calendar. Where we could not verify a figure against a source, the sentence is written without one rather than with an invented number.

Corrections

Venues renovate, timetables change and capacities get restated. If you operate a venue described here and a figure is out of date, point us to the current specification page and the correction ships in the next verification cycle.
